Draft local regulations for the grading, packing and marking of citrus fruit intended for sale in the Republic of South Africa

Draft Citrus Fruit 31 August 2011 will be notified by DAFF to the World Trade Organization (WTO) after 31 August 2011 and after taking into consideration any proposed comments.  Please note that once it is notified no further changes can be done to the document.  The reason for WTO notification is to invite comments from other trading partners with regard to import of citrus fruits.

Some sections or items of the regulation might not be necessary for the local market to be prescribed in these regulations and so it is important that wherever possible this should not be mixed with export market.

The due date for comments: 31 August 2011.  In this case the due date for inputs is next week so you are welcome to submit comments and inquiries directly to: Mr Willy Madiba at Tel: 012- 319 6051 or Fax: 012 – 319 6055/6265 or E-Mail: madibaw@daff.gov.za or, if you prefer submit your comments via the FPIA GM office.
